Honoring OurVeteransVeterans

The American Legion, Post 17, has teamed up with the RACE4WARRIORS nonprofit to build a Veteran’s Memorial, IN THE FIRST CITY, IN THE FIRST STATE, BECAUSE VETERANS COME FIRST.

The centerpiece of the memorial is a beautiful obelisk, which was built by the 512th Maintenance Squadron, Dover AFB, to honor our middle east veterans. There are over 7,130 dog tags within the obelisk. EACH DOG TAG REPRESENTS A VETERAN WHO HAS GIVEN THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE WHILE SERVING IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Circling the obelisk will be laser engrave bricks representing all Veterans WHO HAVE SERVICED ALL AROUND THE GLOBE SINCE WWI!

Purchasing a brick will gain you a place in history. Bricks are not purchased for individual use. Additionally, bricks will be ordered during a mass purchase in September 2024, just a few weeks before they are placed around the memorial's centerpiece (diagram to the right). We will not order small shipments and place bricks out in the elements prior to the mass order.  If we did that, some bricks would be faded and discolored during the final placement. As you can see in the diagram, there is only 29 8x8 bricks available, unless we expand the area. In total, we will be ordering 352 bricks in September. We hope 50% or more are engraved. Order yours today.

The Veterans Memorial ceremony will be on November 11, 2024 - Veterans Day. Hope to see you there and hope to see your brick.
